The Canon Timeline of Poe Dameron
(as best as I can currently piece together)

2 ABY

Poe is born on Yavin 4 to Shara Bey and Kes Dameron

He is raised by his maternal grandfather, while his parents continue fighting in the war.

5 ABY
(age 3)

Shara and Kes muster out and return to Poe , officially settling on Yavin 4, planting the Force tree given to them by Luke, and starting a colony.

The New Republic officially founded.

(UNSPECIFIED POINT IN CHILDHOOD)

breaks his left arm in a glider crash

8 ABY
(age 6)

Shara takes Poe flying for the first time in her A-wing RZ-1 model

10 ABY
(age 8)

Shara Bey dies

L'ulo L'ampar, Shara's fellow Rebel pilot and friend, helps raise Poe (later becomes part of Black Squadron)

(SOME POINT BETWEEN 10 ABY and 18 ABY

Poe rigs podracer engines to his father's koyo picker to pick their koyo grove. The exhaust singes the Force tree, and Kes makes Poe spend the next year nursing it back to health)

18 ABY
(age 16)

Poe runs away

Falls in with bad crowd, and ultimately ends up working with a gang of spice runners on Kijimi. If he wasn't such a good pilot they would have killed him. Meets Zorii Bliss.

23 ABY
(age 21)

Poe leaves Zorii and the gang and returns home. Kes forgives him provided he sets things right.

POE DOES SOMETHING FOR 4 YEARS

27 ABY
(age 25)

Poe joins the New Republic Naval Academy

29 ABY
(age 27)

BB-8 is created. Poe either becomes his owner this year or next.

30 ABY
(age 28)

Poe flies with New Republic Army, and becomes Commander of Rapier Squadron/Anything else he did with the New Republic, because he leaves after a year

31 ABY
(age 29)

Poe joins Resistance

32 ABY
(age 30)

Poe Captains Black Squadron for Resistance, taking part in secret missions to try and expose the First Order/learn more about them, as part of the Cold War efforts.

34 ABY
(age 32)

Recruits Kazuda Xiono to act as a Resistance spy.

L'ulo L'ampar is killed by Agent Terex and the Ranc gang during a secret mission. Poe gives the eulogy at his funeral.

Events of TFA

Having recovered a map that may lead to Luke Skywalker, the First Order finds them, and without an exit, Poe hides the map with BB-8

Is captured by Kylo Ren, and taken to the Finalizer to be interrogated/tortured.

No one can get anything out of him until Kylo Ren himself forces himself into Poe's mind.

A stormtrooper comes for Poe, but reveals himself to be attempting to free him, in need of a pilot. The two work together to steal a TIE fighter and escape. Poe offers the name Finn to the former trooper rather than call him by FN-2187

The ship takes damage and Poe ejects his new friend, but his jacket gets caught and he is unable to eject himself, crashing and being thrown far from the wreck.
